Tuesday

Day 2 of VBS went pretty well. We seem to be making some good connections with the kids. The puppets were a big hit tonight, during a skit about Jesus raising the daughter of Jairus from the dead, amidst a host of naysayers and mourners (lots of puppets = lots of laughs). There were 48 kids this morning, and a lot more this evening. All the kids got marshmallows this morning; this seemed to be the first time for some of them. Soccer is clearly the great sports love of the population, and the kids loved being turned loose with a soccer ball during games this morning. The kids seem quite excited about returning, and have heard a good bit about Jesus and his love. Pray that many of them will come to know Jesus personally.

We also had an interesting experience on the way home, stopping in Timisoara at a business run by friends of Iosif. These people make carbonated beverages with their own carbonation machine which looks like a relic and probably wouldn't pass FDA standards, but seems to work well. We tried many different varieties, which were made on the spot, and then had them make a couple 2-liter bottles to go -- one green apple flavored, the other raspberry flavored.

We're doing well together, growing as a team and learning to appreciate and love each other. Plenty more details, but that's it for this evening.
