Starting VBS

Today we are all traveling to the site of the Vacation Bible School, where we anticipate having 200-300 Gypsy kids. The VBS program lasts for 5 days during the mornings, and we will have additional evening services there for the 5 days as well. Iosif will start the morning sessions with a talk for all the kids in (in Romanian). Afterwards, we will rotate them through crafts, games, and music. Iosif will have about 3 or 4 Romanian helpers along to assist in various areas.

The whole thing seems a little daunting since we don't speak Romanian much, and will need to operate through the translation skills of Iosif's small staff; and, since there are many details that we won't understand until going through the process for at the first day. I imagine we'll feel a little more confident in the process after going through it the first day.

Rick gave us a lesson from the Word on Sunday, about fear, and about how we operate through the power of the Lord. God's strength is made perfect in our weakness, so God will have a great stage to demonstrate his strength this week. A couple of the many verses Rick shared with us: Zechariah 4:6b -- Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts; II Timothy 1:7-8a -- For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Therefore, do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord.

Keep us in your prayers during this time when we will be forced to allow God to work through our weaknesses!
